Our buddies over at 3sixteen have just opened their new store in NYC!

If you are following 3sixteen’s cofounder, Andrew Chen on Instagram then you will have noticed that he has been spending a bit of time in antique shops of late. Now we know why. He’s been on the hunt for antique pieces to deck out their newly opened flagship store in New York City.

The store is the first physical footprint in NYC for the well-established brand. Found on a leafy street in the Nolita area of lower Manhattan the space is designed to be a welcome respite in an otherwise busy downtown neighbourhood.

An oasis of calm

To create this little oasis of calm, the team turned to the folks over at Meadow. This Brooklyn-based design studio has channelled the brand’s dedication to quality in each handmade garment and echoed it throughout the store’s interior. They found inspiration in 3sixteen’s use of highly textured and unique textiles, the store is filled with old-growth and reclaimed wood, textured hand-troweled walls and century-old brick. The design blends contemporary architecture and custom furniture design with expressive, locally sourced antique pieces.

A reflection of the brand’s values

As well as the store being a reflection of the brand’s values it is also a homage to their New York roots. Forms like the defining arched passage at the shop’s centre pay homage to the Verrazano Bridge. Spending time there is intended to be a meditative experience. The 3sixteen pieces have always been deserving of a little time to delve into the details. The unhurried, uncluttered space allows the customer the time and space and headspace to truly understand what the brand is about. It is a conversation where the products and the surrounding space speak the same language. It says come in, chill and leave with some damn fine threads.

Now that is service!

The store opened it’s doors on the 14th of August. Now, they are welcoming walk-in visitors during normal shop hours but during the weird times we live in, they are also be accepting bookings for private appointments where you will have the entire shop to yourself for a 30-minute window. That is service! And with a smile, you just can’t see it cause the guys will be wearing masks.

You can find 3sixteen NY at 190 Elizabeth Street, New York, NY. 10012 and details of how you can book an appointment can be found here.

Congrats guys. I really can’t wait to visit you in person sometime soon!
