For the fourth collaboration with Schott, 3sixteen drops not one, but two jaw-droppingly beautiful leather jackets.

If Schott knows how to do one thing very very well, it is leather jackets. If 3sixteen knows how to do one thing very very well, it is taking a classic and giving it a contemporary spin. So with these two skillsets working together, you know amazing things are going to happen!

A dream team

This is the fourth time 3sixteen and Schott have pooled their skillsets. With each iteration, the two brands have become bolder in their approach and the results speak for themselves. This time around, they have taken the next leap forward. Working with the famous Horween leather tannery in Chicago to turn their rough ideas of the perfect leather into a reality.

Leather perfection

What they have come up with is a tea-core chromexcel horsehide. The “tea-core” means that the leather will start out black and with wear, the brown core will slowly reveal itself leading to a patina unique to each individual jacket. The hides from Horween have been heavily milled, this helps to bring out those brown undertones and also softens the hide making them softer, more supple and eventually easier to wear.

A double rider 519 fit (for 2020)

As before, the guys at 3sixteen have gone for the double rider 519 fit but refined it in the way that they do so well. Gone is the belt, gone are the epaulettes which result in a cleaner, contemporary take on a classic. What’s new this time around is the introduction os a modified A-2 flight jacket.

A-2(020)

They went to Schott and had a good rummage through their extensive archive. Hidden in there was a version of the A-2 that perfectly matched their aesthetic. But again, it was time to modernize just a little bit. They slimmed down the arms and body and added a little to the length ever so subtly. This just makes the fit far more fitting to the modern wearer while maintaining that high-waist look that flight jackets are known for.

Again, practicality is always a top priority. The epaulettes are eliminated, added are hidden side-entry access to the front flap pockets and a removable sheepskin collar rounds out the look of the jacket.

New to both jackets

The hardware is nickel this time around and the zipper pulls have been updated to a stirrup shape which to bring them in line with the other jackets and hoodies in the collection. On the inside, you will find a Japanese brushed herringbone plaid flannel and bemberg (a fabric that resembles silk with its smooth finish but is made of cotton) in the sleeves.

Both jackets are available as of an hour ago through the following stockists.
