Evisu x Palace Collab – Fuck that’s Cool… and Weird.

Palace x Evisu drops by dropping bars from legendary London jungle artist, MC Skibdee

The Japanese denim legends Evisu team up with Palace. The result? Just is as weird and as wonderful as we would have hoped. And their way of showing it off weirder, wonderfuller (sic) and somewhat psycho(delic).

Meanwhile, over on the Instagram

Over in the Instagrams the other day, something was not right. On the Palace feed, there was a little vid of a couple of guys hotboxing it in an old VW Golf. Fitting. On brand. No worries. But then, up pops the seagull that I’ve swooned over since the 90s, huh? Then more huh! “Palace” where “Evisu” should be. Either the Palace boys were in for one hell of a lawsuit. Ir it was a collab about to drop.

No one’s getting sued

But what’s with the Golf? Well, we got our answer to that today when the pieces went online. To set some sorta mood for the whole thing, the guys filmed a little short that sets us right in the context. It’s gritty, it’s street and its that 90s kinda trippy. In the minute-long video, we’re taken from a service station to a 1980’s cartoon credits. All the while MC Skibdee rhymes away at breakneck speed.

Making the old folks all nostalgic

For the younguns around us, this might seem quite odd. But it is the perfect homage to the role Evisu played in the London club scene back around the time you were conceived.

It is all about the denim of course

But to the collection. Well, we’ve got the obligatory print T’s, hoodies and sweats. They do a nice job of logo mashing and your girlfriend will look amazing in them. But, of course, this is about the denim. What else!

Way past the right side of over the top

And I gotta say, I fucking love it. It is just that right side of over the top. Ok, actually it is way past the right side of over the top. There are 4 denim pieces in the line-up. A pair of jeans, naturally. A jacket, tote and bucket hat. There ain’t a lot new, we’ve seen Evisu littering their denims with little, logoed pockets before, but this time it’s the mashed up logos adorning them all over. And it works, way more than it did when it was just Evisu.

You want it? Well, can’t have it!

So, you want it. Well. You can’t have it. It was released this morning and on the last look. It was all sold out. These little Hypebeasts are fast and will probably resell it to fund their Supreme addictions. The youth of today. I just don’t know.
